Kaş is one of Türkiye’s main Mediterranean diving bases, while the nearby Kekova–Üçağız–Simena area is a nationally promoted sea-kayaking destination. They share the same coastal region but require different provider, equipment, fitness, weather, and emergency checks.

Use this guide to distinguish a discovery dive from certified boat diving and training, and to distinguish a short guided sea-kayak product from a longer paddling route or private tour. Why Kaş and Kekova are different products

Kaş diving: identify the exact product

1. Discovery or introductory dive

This is for a participant without a full recreational diving certification. Ask whether the product is conducted from shore or boat, the participant-to-instructor structure, maximum planned depth and underwater time, confined-water or skills preparation, medical screening, equipment, insurance, and what happens if the participant cannot equalize or chooses to stop.

2. Certified recreational boat dives

A listing may mean one dive, two dives in a day, a multi-dive package, or a week with accommodation and transfers. Check whether tanks, weights, guide, boat, lunch, rental equipment, nitrox, marine-park or site charges, computer, insurance, and photographs are included.

3. Course or certification program

Confirm the training system, TSSF relationship, required theory and pool or confined-water work, open-water dives, instructor, materials, equipment, medical form, minimum age, certification or processing fee, completion criteria, and what happens if weather or skills delay the program.

4. Advanced, wreck, deep, sidemount, or technical diving

These are separate products requiring explicit prerequisites, recent experience, gas planning, equipment configuration, site knowledge, decompression or overhead rules where applicable, emergency gases, surface support, and a plan matched to the diver. A famous wreck or deeper site should not be selected only because it appears in promotional content.

Diving-center and instructor checks

TSSF states that it regulates the standards, authorization, and supervision of recreational scuba-diving organizations and activities in Türkiye. Use the current TSSF or e-Devlet verification services to identify authorized centers and instructor, guide, or diver credentials rather than relying only on an international-agency logo or marketplace badge.

2. Check the current TSSF authorized-center information or the linked e-Devlet service.
3. Confirm the instructor or guide who is responsible for the participant and the credentials relevant to the activity.
4. Ask which training system and current TSSF framework apply to the exact course or dive.
5. Request written information about insurance, emergency oxygen, first aid, communications, nearest recompression or emergency pathway, and boat emergency equipment.
6. Confirm who inspects, services, cleans, stores, and retires regulators, BCDs, cylinders, valves, computers, masks, exposure protection, and weights.

Diver suitability and medical questions

Scuba diving changes pressure and breathing-gas exposure and can create serious medical risk. Complete the provider’s current medical questionnaire honestly. A previous dive, swimming ability, or general fitness does not replace the product’s medical and qualification requirements.

Diving price comparison

There is no reliable single Kaş diving price because current providers package the activity differently and some publish only customized quotes. For example, one public 2026 offer combines seven nights, ten boat dives using the diver’s own equipment, and Antalya or Dalaman airport transfers for €710 per person, with a high-season surcharge. That figure should not be compared directly with a single discovery dive or a two-dive day.

Kekova sea kayaking: identify the route

Current public products can range from a shorter morning explorer to a guided shared day, Kaş- or Kalkan-transfer package, private tour, or a longer route toward Aperlai. A common shared Kekova route is marketed around 8 kilometres with breaks, while longer products may reach about 16 kilometres. Do not assume every “Kekova kayak” listing has the same start point or physical demand.

Calm promotional photographs do not guarantee calm conditions throughout the day. Even a sheltered route can involve sun, heat, wind, boat traffic, wake, fatigue, and limited landing options. Use the guide’s route and instructions, wear the supplied buoyancy aid, secure valuables, and avoid touching or climbing on protected archaeological remains.
