Count usable days—not nights
A domestic flight is not only the scheduled time in the air. Hotel checkout, airport transfer, check-in, baggage, delay exposure, arrival transfer and new check-in can consume much of a day. A road segment that looks short on a map can also absorb parking, meals, scenic stops and fatigue. Mark every day as a full experience day, partial day or transfer day before adding attractions.

For seven days, Istanbul–Cappadocia–Antalya can be technically possible but often fails the enjoyment test once two domestic transfers and hotel changes are counted. If all three are non-negotiable, reduce the attraction list and acknowledge that the trip is a sampler.

Fourteen-day planner
Fourteen days allow a more balanced İstanbul + Cappadocia + Mediterranean/Aegean structure, but they do not remove geography. A practical plan can use İstanbul 4, Cappadocia 3, one coast cluster 5 and two combined transfer/buffer days. If both Ephesus/Pamukkale and Kaş/Fethiye are priorities, design a single directional route and avoid returning to the same base unnecessarily.
The coast rule: choose one cluster
- Fethiye/Ölüdeniz: best when paragliding, boats, lagoon and western Lycian Way access dominate.
- Kaş/Kekova: best for diving, kayaking, small-town evenings and central-coast heritage.
- Antalya/Side: best for larger-city access, resort choice and eastern regional excursions.
- Do not treat Antalya, Kaş, Fethiye and Bodrum as interchangeable day trips.
Weather-dependent activity placement
- Put Cappadocia ballooning on the first practical morning, with at least one later morning available.
- Put Ölüdeniz paragliding or a priority boat/dive day before the final departure day.
- Keep the replacement activity geographically close so a cancellation does not break the whole route.
