GoTürkiye describes Geyikbayırı as the country’s largest developed rock-climbing area, approximately 25 km from Antalya, with a main crag around 1.5 km long and more than 700 routes across the main wall and other buttresses. Grade is only one part of fit

A route grade does not describe approach exposure, polish, bolt spacing, clipping position, fall consequence, anchor configuration, lowering length, rock quality, heat or the skill required to manage another climber. Start below the team’s indoor limit and allow time to learn local rock and communication. Never infer rope length or descent method from a grade alone.

Heat, weather and wall aspect

• Confirm which sectors are in sun or shade during the planned session.
• Avoid treating Antalya city temperature as the exact wall condition.
• Ask how recent rain, seepage, wind or thunderstorms affect the chosen sector.
• Carry sufficient water and plan the approach, waiting time and return—not only climbing time.
• Check current wildfire, land-access, parking or local closure information.
• Leave daylight margin for route queues, descent, equipment retrieval and a wrong turn on the approach.

Accommodation and transport decision

A crag-area stay can reduce daily transfer friction and support early or shade-timed sessions. An Antalya base can work better for a mixed group, airport access and non-climbing days, but only if transport to the exact sector is solved. Confirm whether the provider pickup covers the accommodation, whether a rental vehicle can reach the current parking point and whether late return creates a food or transport problem.

9. What first-aid, communication, evacuation and insurance arrangements apply?
